From Zero to Hero: How to Start Making Money as a Complete Beginner
First steps are always the hardest. How to overcome fears and start making internet money
Making money is not easy. It never has been easy, it never will be easy. But the fact is, it has never been easier to make money than it is today. If you have a computer, an internet connection, it’s a huge chance you are living in a capitalistic society, which is literally designed for entrepreneurship.
You most likely do have the resources. What you don’t have, and even I didn’t have this for a very long time and understood just recently: The right mindset
When I say the right mindset, it sounds really simple. The fact you need to pick a good business model, learn as much as possible about it before even starting the business, learning on the way, staying consistent even though you might suck at first, staying disciplined for a very long time even though nobody believes in you … sounds simple right? But it’s easier said than done.
When I started my journey with online businesses, I had zero knowledge about anything. Zero experiences are equalled to zero knowledge. So I decided to act. Most people fail right at the first step: Actually starting the business. Luckily, this was never a problem for me, I was never scared to act. However my flaws where located elsewhere.
My biggest flaw was inpatience. I expected overnight success. I was lied to by gurus who tried to sell me their dropshipping course. They were saying that it’s possible to have a succesful dropshipping store in under a week from starting without any investement upfront. Now I know that this is so far away from the truth, that dropshipping is basically a dead business model if you don’t have thousands of dollars to spend at the start on Facebook Ads and testing products. But at the time, I didn’t know this. The gurus did a great job in lying to me.
So naturally I had these huge expectations when setting up my first dropshipping store. I thought I was going to become a millionare in the next 3 months. How stupid I was!
I managed a total of 0 sales on this dropshipping store. I realised it was all a lie. That overnight success is a lie. The keyword is that “I REALISED”. I had to realise myself how things worked. How I realised it? By actually trying. By not being afraid of starting.
I failed, but learned. Then again I failed, but learned. And again and again. I thought at the time that my life was going nowhere, but then all of a sudden I realised something..
That by taking lessons which failures gave me, I actually became really damn knowledgable. All of a sudden I had a legitimate valid opinion on the few online side hustles i’ve tried. I could objectively say if it actually has any potential, if the mistake was in me or in the business model. When I tried dropshipping, the fault was mine but the business model is also kinda dead nowadays.
I also tried and failed SMMA, which I think is a valid business model but think it’s just a glorified 9-5. Might write a separate article on SMMA and the whole business model sometime in the future.
What i’m trying to say is: Don’t be afraid to fail!!!!
Failures got me where I am today. You wouldn’t even be reading this article if it wasn’t for my failures. I’ve been failing for almost a year now. But in my eyes, every failure is a great life lesson. I’m knowledgable enough to be writing an article about it, and that’s success in my eyes.
I’m still learning. Every day. I’m sure if you’re willing to fail for a long enough time, those lessons will eventually turn into experience, experience into knowledge and knowledge into success.
So just start. That’s the easiest and also the hardest step.
I’m rooting for you.
