Why Having a Phone Addiction Can Be your Blessing
A Phone Addiction can be an Amazing Thing to Have As long as you Don't Only 'Consume'

You probably do have a phone addiction. You probably have your phone in arms reach right now. Or you are reading this article right now on your phone. Most of people I know have a phone addiction. Including me.
Having a phone addiction is portrayed as a huge problem by people. Apparently it’s bad for you. Which is true for the average person. The average person does not benefit from having a phone addiction because they don’t know how to utilize it properly. I refer to these people as ‘consumers’.
An average ‘consumer’ will be on Instagram and TikTok a few hours every day, scrolling mindlessly through their feed and sending videos to their friends. The ‘consumer’ is the person who the actual creators need in order to monetize their hard work. These creators also most likely have a phone addiction. But the difference between them and just the average ‘consumer’ is that they use their addiction to create and not to consume.
I was a consumer for a total of 2 years of my life. Short form content started to pop off as TikTok became mainstream in 2020, and from 2020 to 2022 I was only consuming content. Never once have I thought of how much potential there is in being the one who makes the content.
As I started to study social media, I stopped consuming. I started to create. I currently am posting every day on Instagram, Twitter and TikTok. Do you know why am I doing this?
There is a few ways to monetize an audience on social media. Remember, attention is currency in today’s world.
Number 1 is affiliate marketing. Creating a niche account or a personal brand and then promoting an offer and you get paid a commission, or you can even make your own digital or physical product.
You can also create a newsletter just like me. In order to get paid from creating content for your newsletter, you need to get enough followers to attract sponsors and brand deals. We’re getting there.
These are just 2 examples of what is possible with an audience and why being addicted to your phone can be good if you’re addicted the right way.
Stop consuming, start creating.
