The importance of honesty in your life

Why hearing what you might not want to hear is important

Generally speaking about honesty, most people if they were asked if they would like people to be honest or dishonest with them, they would almost certainly answer honest. But once that happens and they get exposed to the honest truth, they get angry. Most of the time, people can’t actually handle the truth. That’s why in today’s world there is so much back stabbing, talking bad behind people’s backs while pretending you’re friends, etc..

Surround yourself with people who tell you the harsh truth

There is a saying where people would rather hear comforting lies than harsh truth. Because the harsh truth often calls you out, exposes your insecurities, makes you feel inferior, negative or figured out.

Comforting lies on the other hand, also known as dishonesty, hugs your ego and makes you think really good about yourself, meanwhile you look like an idiot in other people’s eyes. That’s because nobody told you how it really is, or you got scared of the harsh truth.

Are you strong enough to accept the truth?

In order for others to be honest with you, you must be honest first

Hearing the truth from your closest friends and family is extremely important. But you need to hold yourself to the same standard. You don’t want to feed anyone’s ego with comforting lies. And that is not easy.

People who are honest and speak out loud the unpleasant truth are not liked. In fact, they’re hated.

But I would rather be a loyal, honest but hated, than to be a dishonest rat.

People don’t like to hear the truth. It’s something that hasn’t changed in thousands of years.
